About L.A.D. ‘F. Kaiser’

kaiserL.A.D. ‘F. Kaiser’ is the student association of astrophysics students in Leiden, and is a part of De Leidsche Flesch, the student association for students of astrophysics, physics, mathematics and computer science.
More than twenty years ago a number of students wanted to establish a student association specifically for astrophysics students. They pushed through and on the first of March, 1993, L.A.D. ‘F. Kaiser’ was founded, named after the first director and founder of the Old Observatory.

Since then, L.A.D. ‘F. Kaiser’ has organized numerous activities aimed at improving the contact between undergraduate students, graduate students, research associates, staff members and other members of the observatory.

The activities are open to all students of astronomy (and some activities are open to members of De Leidsche Flesch as well) but members of L.A.D. ‘F. Kaiser’ have precedence over others and are invited to the annual Kaiser-dinner. Becoming a member is free and easy. Contact the board to become a candidate-member. After you have helped out with an activity (this may include a tour in the Old Observatory, a movie night, et cetera) you become a regular member.
As a member you may then apply to be on the board.
